Temuera Derek Morrison MNZM, born on 26 December 1960, is a renowned New Zealand actor who initially became well-known in his native New Zealand for playing Dr. Hone Ropata on the soap opera Shortland Street. His critically acclaimed performances include Jake The Muss Heke in Once Were Warriors (1994) and its 1999 sequel What Becomes of the Broken Hearted?. Morrison gained international fame through his roles in the Star Wars franchise, playing the roles of Jango Fett and his many genetic clones, including the clone troopers and Jango's clone son Boba Fett. The role of Jango was first played by Morrison in the 2002 film Attack of the Clones. He voiced Boba Fett in The Empire Strikes Back (2004 re-release) and video games, and later starred as Boba in The Mandalorian (2019–present) and The Book of Boba Fett (2021–2022). The black ops thriller Echo 3 featured Morrison in a recurring role in 2022. He provided the voice for Chief Tui, Moana's father, in the Disney film Moana (2016), and for playing Arthur Curry's father Tom Curry in the DCEU films Aquaman (2018), The Flash (2023), and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (2023). Early life Born in Rotorua on 26 December 1960, Morrison hails from the North Island of New Zealand. He is the son of Hana Morrison (née Stafford) and musician Laurie Morrison. Morrison's heritage includes Māori whakapapa of Te Arawa (Ngāti Whakaue) and Tainui (Ngāti Maniapoto, Ngāti Rarua), along with Scottish and Irish ancestry. Taini Morrison, his sister, was a performer, and his uncle, Sir Howard Morrison, was a musician. He attended Wesley College in Auckland and Western Heights High School in Rotorua for his secondary education.
